Busy day tomorrow!!

  • Feb. 10th, 2007 at 4:49 PM

Well, tomorrow (Sunday) is going to be a busy and hectic one!

First, I need to drop Pete off at work early in the morning and then head back home to take Ashley to her mandatory confirmation class.

Did I mention that it sucks to have only one vehicle?

After I pick Ashley up, I need to head home and make a light lunch, the girls need baths and then get ready to head back down to pick Pete up at work at 3:00. We are going to get an early dinner someone local (Mikki D's or Wendy's) because food is too friggin expensive at the concession stands. Then we'll head to Philly to attend the Sixer's game. The game starts at 6 pm but Pete had said if and when Shannon starts getting cranky and tired, we may leave early to head home. We'll probably be home before 10pm. though. Yep, sucks to go to a game on a school night, but hey these are good seats and the tickets were FREE!! We are only going to pay about $20 for fast food and then like $15 for gas, so less than $40 spent for a basketball game isn't too shabby!! :)

Saturday Thoughts

  • Feb. 10th, 2007 at 12:44 PM

Another Saturday has arrived.....

Today Pete has the car for work as usual and the girls are keeping themselves entertained and trying to stay on their best behavior.

Pete had told the girls last night about going to the Sixer's game on Sunday and they are super excited! I am glad that Pete wanted to take his family to the game to spend some quality time together. I mean he could've just taken himself and the guys (well they are having a guys night out next month for a game, as they do every year) but instead, Pete will have his 3 favorite females accompany him to the game. :)

I was very tired last night. I went to bed at 10:30 and slept this morning until almost 11! I must've really needed the sleep or maybe I'm coming down with something. Hopefully it's the former, I would hate to be sick for Sunday!

Well, I'm off to get some laundry and housework done and to make lunch for myself and the girls. After the pipe fiasco, it's been TWO whole days since I have done any laundry so I better get my butt off the computer and get started!

Have a great day everyone! :)

Sorry I have been a little MIA here but I am posting some entries that I posted on MySpace to let you know what's been going on in my life:

PSYCHOANALYZE YOURSELF

Borrowed this from Gina~

PSYCHOANALYZE YOURSELF

Don't look at the answers, if you're going to fill it in. ALSO: It's best to delete all the other person's answers first, so you don't get those images in your head.

PSYCHOANALYZE YOURSELF.

1. You are walking in the woods. You are not alone. Who are you walking with?

2. You are walking in the woods. You see an animal. What kind of animal is it?

3. What interaction takes place between you and the animal?

4. You walk deeper in the woods. You enter a clearing and before you is your dream house. Describe it.

5. Does the house have a fence?

6. You enter the house. You walk in to the dining room and see the dining room table. What do you see on AND around it?

7. You exit the house through the back door. Lying in the grass is a cup. What material is the cup made of?

8.What do you do with the cup?

9.You walk to the edge of the of water. What type of body of water is it?

MY ANSWERS: (DELETE)

1. You are walking in the woods. You are not alone. Who are you walking with? Pete

2. You are walking in the woods. You see an animal. What kind of animal is it? A deer

3. What interaction takes place between you and the animal? approach it carefully, talking to it softly. Deer runs away in fear.

.

NO

6. You enter the house. You walk in to the dining room and see the dining room table. What do you see on AND around it?
I see a light colored large wood block table with 6 chairs with light blue cushions on each and placemats with a country theme design and in the middle of the table, a ceramic bowl with sunflowers completing the effect. I see my family surrounding the table.

7. You exit the house through the back door. Lying in the grass is a cup. What material is the cup made of?
Durable steel cup without a handle

8. What do you do with the cup?
pick it up and check for signs of dirt/insects

a small lake

10. How will you cross the water?
I would swim across the lake to the other side.

WHAT THE ANSWERS MEAN (DO NOT DELETE!)

1. The person who you are walking in the woods with is the most important person in your life.

2. The size of the animal is representative of your perception of the size of your problems in your life.

3. The severity of the interaction you have with the animal is representative of how you deal with your problems.

Update on the Pipe

Our pipe problem has been fixed!!!

Our friend John came over to help and the problem was found. We had a water spigot out front and the pipe from there was causing the leak with it being frozen due to the frigid temps. It was hard to get into the area because of drywall in the basement bathroom so they had to tear out the drywall blocking the pipes to get to the source of the problem. The spigot pipe had to be blocked off, so now the front spigot is no longer functionable. We didn't mind the drywall being torn off, the beams are still visable and it doesn't look that bad and we rarely use that bathroom anyway. Plus we had a spigot in the backyard that was drained as well, as a precaution. Hell, hundreds of dollars in repair costs were saved so I can live without the drywall and the front porch spigot.

John did offer his services to get some plywood to put up in the ripped area so it's not too exposed. We are very grateful to John for his help! He's a great friend! :)

I went ahead and called our homeowner's insurance agent back to cancel the claim adjuster's services.

I'm doing the happy dance now and our water pressure's back to normal with no signs of leakage!! :)

WOOT!!!

BROKEN WATER PIPE

Last night when I was running the water for a shower, I noticed the pressure was low. I got Pete to investigate after I went into the laundry room and I heard the sound of water running. Pete went and found the source, a broken water pipe that had burst along the wall right next to our basement bathroom.
UGH! Pete shut the water off and called the homeowner's insurance agent this morning. I need to get a plumber out today and the insurance adjuster hopefully will contact me today to access the damage. We have a $500 deductible but until the adjuster comes out, the homeowner's may not cover the pipe damage, depending on if it was caused by it being frozen or a wear or tear issue. This is one of the times that I regret becoming a homeowner. At least when we were renting, we were only responsible for the first $100 in repair charges. We don't have tons of money either so I'm hoping things work out in our favor. Pete's at work now and I have no car and no running water and Shannon has to stay home from school today. I talked briefly with the insurance agent and Pete's calling them back to talk to them also.
Oh wait just heard from Pete. The pipe repair is our responsibility but any structural damage is covered after a $500 deductible. We are royally screwed now.

Kindergarten registration

Well, it's official. We received Shannon's kindergarten registration packet in the mail on Saturday and registration is on March 8th.

I called this morning to make the appointment and I have her original birth certificate and immunization records but I can't find her SS card though. I asked the secretary and she mentioned that I just need the number but they need to see the original birth certificate. I've been trying to find her SS card anyway since we have her SS number on our tax returns but I want to be prepared, just in case!

*sigh* I can't beleive my baby is turning five on April 8th and this fall she'll be starting kindergarten.

Even worse, I can't believe Ashley will be starting her first year in MIDDLE SCHOOL in the fall. I'm going to be the parent of an elementary school student AND the parent of a Middle School student.

Sometimes I wish they were babies again.....

Family Outing
Current mood: excited
Category: Sports

Pete had given me some good news this evening. His boss, who is a Philadelphia 76'ers season ticket holder, is going to be out of town two weekends from now and has 4 tickets that he is unable to use for Feb.11th and Pete is taking me and the girls to that game! Pete and I haven't been to a Sixers game together in a couple of years but we are planning to surprise the girls that day. The girls had never been to a Sixers game so this will be a new experience for them.

Plus it will be a late night for them as well, the game starts at 6 pm so they are going to be so happy staying up past their bedtime!!

Ear Infections-posted on MySpace 1/16/07

  • Jan. 19th, 2007 at 4:00 PM

Tuesday, January 16, 2007

Shannon was complaining about her left ear hurtng this weekend and after taking her to the doctor's yesterday morning, our fears were confirmed-she was diagnosed with an ear infection. My poor baby-she's on an antibiotic for 10 days and I kept her home from school today. She's still complaining that her ear is bothering her a little but we'll see how she's feeling in the morning.

I remember Ashley having a bad ear infection last year and she was in so much pain, she remembered while I was driving her to an emergency dr.'s appt, she heard a faint voice echoing in her ear that it was her great Pop-Pop and he was watching over her and she would be alright. After that, her pain was less intense. Although Ashley's never met my grandfather in person,(he passed away 4 years before her birth) she asked my grandmother for a picture of him she could keep him close to her always. Maybe he's her true guardian angel......

I do believe that my grandfather is also watching over Shannon as well....

What a crazy week!!!

  • Mar. 24th, 2006 at 2:39 PM

Well folks, it's been a stressful week here in my world.
First of all, my mom was admitted to the hospital last Sat night because she had an infection in her breast (She's a breast cancer survivor who had a partial mascetomy last year)and while she was going through tests-they discovered she has an irregular heart beat.
Now she has to get a pacemaker AND she has to get a full mascetomy on the infected breast and the doctors are deciding if they should do the pacemaker or the mascetomy first. After the mascetomy, my mom has to wait 3-4 weeks and then go back in for reconstructive surgery. It looks like she'll be in the hospital for a couple more weeks so please any prayers and good thoughts will be appreciated!
We've been house hunting this week too-we have seen 3 houses and there was one we really liked but we found out the house was in a not so nice neighborhood *sigh*. House hunting can be very stressful let me tell you!!
The hubby is having a guys night out tonight. His boss had given him 4 tickets to the Sixer's game so hubby and his friends will be going to the game and then stopping off at a (ahem) "Strip Club" on the way home.
That's fine with me as long as he doesn't come home and wants something, cause he ain't going to get any-not in those circumstances!!
Well, gotta go-have to go pick the older daughter at school-have a good one! :)

What the hell????

  • Mar. 17th, 2006 at 1:14 PM

I was online today to look again at a house listing we are going to check out on Sunday. I was unable to find the photos of this house. I was trying to go into my history to find the link when I encountered pichunter.com.
I thought not again! It seems that my darling hubby has been sneaking around looking at porn!
The last time he had gone into this site-we had XXX pops ups come up and when I tried to get rid of them, our hard drive had crashed. Our friend said that it was a virus- and my hubby promised he wouldn't do it again.
I know he was looking at this iste last night while I was at my bowling league and he thought that I'd never find out.
Okay, any advise on how to handle this? He's bought Playboy and Penthouse in the past and I was okay with that even though I knew he didn't buy them for the articles.lol The important thing here is that he didn't hide the fact from me. He had shown me the covers of the mags.
I am not a prude and we have a active sex life but do you think he's going come out and say "Oh by the way hon, I checked out pic hunter again and wow some of those shots were hot!" HELL NO!!!! He's not a moron to do this but maybe I should start buying issues of Playgirl and whip it out in front of him and start looking er, reading (but hon, I only buy these for the articles!), what pics?
Maybe it will get him thinking-"oh shit I've been busted, she came across the porn site that stupid me didn't think to delete!!!"
Well, enough of my rambling-if you have any advise to offer...feel free to do so!!

Good Evening!

  • Mar. 8th, 2006 at 7:39 PM

Well, there may be a possibility that we may be going to check out a house next week!
We are going to drive by it on Sunday to see it from the outside and if it's in a good area we are going to make an appt. for a showing.
Pete says if we like this house we may be putting a bid in!
Wish us luck!
I am anxious because the house is the first one we've seen in our price range and our realtor said it's been on the market for 2 months so there's a good chance that it's not going to be sold within the next week!
Will keep you posted!
